We Interrupt This Program...

I always seem to realize about a week or so before my kids' birthdays that I need to get on the ball and make them something.  Olivia's birthday is in 12 days and, well, it's time for me to get busy.  I am going to make her an amigurumi doll like this:

It's a free pattern... bonus!  I prefer Caron Simply Soft to work amigurumi, so I need to see what I  have on hand.  If I buy more, it's going to have to be in the colors I need for my aunt's South Park amis I need to get started on.

I made my first amigurumi a year ago...  a bunny for Olivia's birthday.  I stayed up very late working on that thing.  It's now on my dresser waiting for a new eye and it's arms reattached.  If you want to see it, you can go here.

I can't work on this while Olivia's up, so it will have to replace my SGW as my evening project.   Amigurumi requires a bit too much concentration to take it to work to do at lunch.  On occasion, someone wants to sit and talk to me while I'm there (I eat lunch so early, though, that I'm normally alone) so I need something that doesn't require referring to a pattern frequently.

I hate stopping work on the SGW, I really do.  I crocheted myself a headache last night getting all the corner motifs finished.  Now on to the borders to finish up the squares, which means I'm now working square to square instead of all of them at once.  One one hand I feel like I'm almost finished, but on the other hand I still have about 2 skeins of black that have to go into this thing, so I know I'm not.

  1. I LOVE this doll! She is completely amazing. Sounds like you will be extra busy this week if you add granny stripe legwarmers to the list. So happy you like them. I think granny wear is the perfect fall accessory. Wishing you a happy week Jennifer. :)
